    Hi
Anyone got a personal recommendation for a weekend break near Dublin but not in Dublin . Looking for a top quality hotel with great food, nice scenery, spa facilities and within easy access to Dublin 1/2 hours away?

Have done search and seen Carlingford was recommended as a location.

Anyone got recent experiences of Brooklodge, Ritz-Carlton..?
Anyone tried the food in Carton House lately, loved the place but the food was dreadful the last time I was there..\
Can anyone recommend a hotel and a location....

    Thanks in advance
    Redman

    Hey Redman,

I haven't stayed there myself but I've heard from others that the Ritz Carlton is fabulous. I've also heard good things about Brooklodge and have a voucher for there myself that I must get round to using up.

I stayed in Carlingford last year for one night just in a B&B, it's a beautiful town and has plenty of great restaurants and pubs. I don't think there's a big choice accomodation wise though.

We've booked a weekend in November in the Wineport Lodge in Glasson, outside Athlone, which you might consider checking out.

I know a load of friends who rave about Bellinter House (http://www.bellinterhouse.com/).

    Have a look at http://www.monart.ie/
(I'd rate it above Brook Lodge.)

What about Knightsbrook in Trim? Very nice classy hotel and quite a bit to do if you like historical stuff.

My wife was a bit rundown so i took her to the carlton Millrace in Bunclody for a bit of R&R earlier this year. The Hotel was quite good and they did some good Spa packages. they had live music in the bar in the evening as well which was quite good.

They did some good value packages and apparantly the Spa is good, it took about an hour to get there from South Dublin.
