Right, we've established the forum now. It's going quite well. After canvasing opinion from some of the regular posters I believe it is diue time we organised our own beers session.

So, who has any preferences for location and/or date?

You can post up my response if you like. It's a bit boring but you have permission to stick in some fancy dino words.

edit: after doing some research i think I know this pub.
opening till 2.30pm on Friday and Saturday night

Providing an appropriate day is picked, the doom shall of course be in attendance, however he will be disappointed if no form of robo dinosaur does not appear!

Is there one on Westland Row too? I was thinking of the one on the Quays next to Tara station.

Woops, think I messed up my last google search.

TBH I'd probably prefer the one beside the train station (handier for me to get to).
    But I don't really mind.

Was thinking of bringing a couple of trinkets for identification purposes. Found a couple of old Dinosaurs (the old TV sit com) figures (the dada and the baby) in the attic the other day. Was gonna give them to my lil' cousin but now I may have use for them.
Also, I was thinking of bringing my Dinosaurs! magazines (fancy that WindSock? ;) ) except they are heavy buggers..

I might go to this. Grimes owes me a beers night tee hee. If you promise to be there this time I'll go. Of course it also depends on when it's gonna be!

And no Galvasean I am not conceding. I still don't like dinosaurs!

In my experience if it's nearer to public transport routes the better because its easy to get to and easy to explain where it is, so I'd go tara st.

    +Galvasean's aching back.
Who'd have taught a dinosaur would be so heavy?
I might go for that but I think we'd be few. Perhaps a few associated boards might join us?

Well since we share moderators with the scum archaeology forum and another of their ilk has responded positively to this thread, perhaps we could make it a joint 'Ancient World' beers or some such nonsense?

There is no denial. I don't like the scaley buggers. They have given me recurring nightmares, I'm not joking. I really don't like them. But I do like drink which is why I might go to this, depending on when it's on and if Grimes is going cos as I said he owes me :D

    Dinosaurs eat man

Ok, I sent a PM to all the posters I could find on this forum asking if the 25th of October might be a good date.

Ive just been informed that their *might* be a sitewide beers that night. Not sure yet. i'll keep you all posted.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,872 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

site wide is the week after... unless you want specifically to keep further away from it, it's good

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,429 ✭✭✭✭star-pants

Yeah the site wide hallowe'en beers is like the 1st of Nov or something isn't it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,923 ✭✭✭Nothingcompares

    yeah I'll attend

So from what I can tell the 25th seems to be okay with most people.
Although the concern that it is a bit close to the Haloween Beers (Nov 1st) still exists. There is pretty much a week between them (6 days before anyone gets technical) so i don't see it as too much of a problem.

If people are still happy to go on the 25th of this month the next step is to figure out a venue.

I'd recommend the Kennedy's on Westland Row. It's a nice pub and right beside Pearse train station which should make it easy for people to find.

What does everybody think about that?
Lob out a few more suggestions and maybe we can make a poll to decide for sure.
