    Hi

    i am travelling to Mexico via Atlanta from Dublin and am enquiring about immigration.
    Do I go through immigration in Dulbin or Atlanta?
    Are they strict with transit immigration?
    Can I expect delays?
    Any other information to relay
    J

    AFAIK If its the Delta flight it clears immigration in Dublin. You will still have to collect your bags in Atlanta and re-check them and go through security again.

    i thought only chicago and new york flights cleared immigration in dublin? could be wrong though. when i went to SF in April, this is what Aer lingus told me, but it might have changed or been wrong from the start

    This link is almost a year old :

    http://www.foreignafares.ie/blog/us-immigration-limits-to-preclearance-at-dublin-airport-a-28.html

    Due to congestion, US immigration services in Dublin Airport only serve certain flights. Clients with onward connections in the US ought leave sufficient time to clear immigration upon arrival in the US if travelling on the following flights which are not being precleared in Dublin :

    * American Airlines to Chicago
    * Aer Lingus to Dulles
    * Aer Lingus to San Francisco
    * Aer Lingus to Orlando
    * Aer Lingus Flight 109 to JFK
    * Continental Airlines Flight 127 to Newark
    * US Airways to Philadelphia

    From the AA site :

    Note:
    Passengers travelling from Dublin to Chicago can no longer pre-clear customs and immigration in Dublin. To avoid long delays, passengers must now clear customs and immigration in Chicago upon arrival. It is recommended that passengers check-in 3 hours prior to departure.

    > Do I go through immigration in Dulbin or Atlanta?

    Atlanta I guess.

    > Are they strict with transit immigration?

    Not really. I did Paris -> NY-> Mexico last July.

    >Can I expect delays?

    Impossible to say really.

    I did imigration at Atlanta in May (coming from St Lucia, not Dublin) and it took no more than 5 minutes. We didn't even have our forms pre filled in (and the airlines should give you these to help anyway) but there was absolutely no queue and staff were helpful and friendly. You'll definitely have to go through Customs in Atlanta and again we had no problems.

    I also travelled to SF Dublin-Chicago, Chicago- San Fran, and we went through customs in Chicago.

    If you go through Shannon the questioning is tough I believe, but unless you have anything to hide you will be fine!!

    If you really need to know, call the airline company and ask them, but unless you're guilty of something you dont need to be worrying about it.

    Hi,
    My sister is currently on the Dublin-Orlando flight and she sent us a text saying that she has to clear customs over here in Orlando....what a pain. As far as i can work out that immigration clearance at Dublin is a hit and miss affair, thats why we always fly from SNN. She also said the plane was an hour and half late, but thats Aer Lingus for ya.
    By the way its lovely and hot over here about 30-32c.

    It's far from hit and miss, there is a simple logic to it.

    It's been covered many times before so a search will throw it up.
