No. Prob had a few drinks etc..happens, no big deal. Even without the few drinks.

You only kissed her. Are you going to see her again?

No. There might be raised eyebrows if you were to persue it further but forget about it.

She is an adult and as long as she was not daftly drunk and you were not taking advantage then no harm, no foul.

    why are you feeling guilty?

are you telling us the full story? was she really 18 or 16 with fake ID ?

The only problem is she's fairly good looking and i would'nt put it past myself to do it again, hopefully not.

I'm failing to see the issue really.

Assuming of course she is 18 ?

From a relationship point of view she's probably in a completely different place in her life. 18 on to your early twenties ... you tend to change a hell of a lot.

Iknow for a fact she's 18 so at least i'm clear in that department anyway.

If you're attracted to her and you both just want some fun then why not? As a previous poster said, she's prob in a different point in her life, certainly relationship wise she is.

Man there is absolutely nothing wrong with going out with an 18 year old, let alone kissing one.

    Agreed.

Most 18 year old girls are probably as mature as a 25 year old guy anyway. :D

Well who do you want to go out with ... your friends or this girl ?

You may get a bit of a slagging who knows ... you may get ... lucky barstad comments as well

I'm going to be hated here for this but meh.

I think age is an issue. I suppose each of us have our own morals and criteria regarding an assortment of things re: relationships , fun et al and age is one of mine.

I don't think that someone who is 28 has has much in common with someone who is 18, a teenager. I would imagine in most cases that someone that is 28 would be in a different place in their life than someone that is 18, such as focus would/could be on career, mortgage and other 'grown up' responsibilities. Someone who is 18 would just be finishing school, worry about Leaving Certificate results, going to college, concerned about the next shade of lipstick available in stores and so on.

I personally wouldn't go +/- 5 years outside my age range, but each to their own. I may alter this number the older I get :pac:

You mean like not going to discos.

Indeed. I was a keen clubber in my early 20's but as I get older (and admittedly possibly more boring) I much prefer bars/late night bars, going to BBQ's and don't frequent clubs as much.

nothing wrong with this! I have a friend who is 23 and going out with someone who is 38. They have loads in common and having been going out ages.

    go for it!

If you were drunk or not, don't feel guilty. I know I wouldn't. Maturity has a huge part to play too, main problem with a big age gap is that both parties may want something completely differant.

There is nothing wrong with the age gap at all- am 38 and I was going out with a girl who was only 24 but very mature and we got on great...the only thing you have to avoid is mentioning which decade you are talking about when you were a kid;-)

Saying that- when I am out at gigs/clubs most women only think I am around 28-30...great ego boost but knowing that the age gap is +10 years when they only think it is a few does play on my mind.

Meeting the parents will be fun - "now, you be sure to have her back before 12 and make sure she doesn't drink too much"

oh I'd avoid meeting her parents. Sneaking in the bedroom window might be a safer root

KING among men id say....no problem once she's not under 18 and your not 65 :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Don't worry about snogging her, OP - nothing to be ashamed of. And if you'd like to see her again, go for it. Sure, her age may prove an obstacle eventually but the best thing is to find out for yourself rather than not pursuing it and wondering "what if..."

Wow, an age gap thread and nobody has mentioned the lame "half your age plus seven" rule - full moon...?!

I'm 28 and have kinda been seeing an 18 year old for a while. We met online and while chatting realised we were going to the same concert. Met up there and hung out at the concert, got on really well, spent that night and a few more days together. I have seen her a few times since...

Basically I'm now an absolute legend with the lads, getting high fives all around, cause she's hot, just 18 and still in school. I expected my female friends to flip out when they heard but none of them did. I even brought her out with my crew and everyone really liked her! A close femae friend who I was dreading telling as I thought she would go nuts, actually suggested I forget about the age difference and date her properly!

There is no harm in it - we are both adults. Honestly there are definite large gaps in the maturity levels between us, but we can still have a laugh an enjoy hanging out and stuff. She's quite mature and I can be a kid sometimes. We are keeping it very casual - just a bit of fun - but nothin wrong with it.

I get the novelty of being with a hot 18 year old, bragging rights etc - but she gets exactly the same from her friends for seeing a guy way older. How many 18 year olds date guys who have proper jobs, cars and houses etc. It's a win-win for both as long as no one gets hurt - so do as I did, have 'the talk' and set the boundaries so that you both know clearly where you stand

I think if you get back with this girl, the main problem will not be either of your friends at all or possibly family but DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA.
Mate of mine, 28 like yourself was going out with a young 18/19 year old in the last year - his love life was great, but outside of that it was just drama and hell. Younger people in general are a lot more emotional - I don't see any problem other than that, your own morals permitting - some people who are 18 look and act like adults, my fiancees 18 year old cousin seems like he is sixteen however - it's knowing younger seeming 18 yr olds that makes something like that seem totally wrong, but then like I said some people are more adult than others.
I reckon if you do go out with that girl there will be hassle. :)

    OP......you sir........are a legend!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,029 ✭✭✭um7y1h83ge06nx

Carry on sir, carry on... ;)

I'd love to be fooling around with a nice, fresh 18 yr old (I'm 25). :D

They would probably be head wrecking but fun in the sack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

18 year olds and 28 year olds can wreck your head in equal doses.

SO..........Take the benefit of the hotter younger one.

Women understand, that's why they spend thousands on tucks, trims, and milk squeezed from some squirrels nipples or some such to give themselves younger skin.

If you like her. Go for it. Age isn't a "problem" it's a perk!

A friend of mine started going out with her boyfriend when she was 18 and he was 28. It caused a few raised eyebrows at first but two years on, they're still together and nobody cares.
I myself have regularly kissed a guy who's 12 years older than me.
Depending on the situation and the people involved (maturity, where they are in life etc), age really is just a number. You shouldn't be feeling guilty at all

True, variety is the spice of life as they say.

I don't mean to diss older women, when I was 19 or 20 I hooked up with a 30 year old, it made me a fan of older, more experienced women. ;)

I think my last comment was powered by the fact I was walking around near Mary Immaculate College in Limerick today during lunch (I had business to attend to around there, honest).

Anyway, being serious again, I reckon the OP has absolutely nothing wrong from either a legal (of course) or a moral standpoint. It's just some fun.

If you want to 'tap that ass' then go for it.. As for a relationship between an 18 year old and 28 year old? Personally, could never see it lasting unless the 18yo was incredibly mature and the 28yo was incredibly immature, respective of their ages.

Oh no I'm not saying you're dissing older women at all. I also think the OP should go for it. :)

There's nothing wrong with it. It's just a matter of what do you expect out of it? Longterm? I wouldn't hold my breath.

If it was just a kiss, then you didn't hurt anybody and you didn't use anybody. Unless you tied her down or something??? :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 89 ✭✭Wasy

Well i'll be trying to stay away from her in the disco, will be hard to resist but i'll try.

Go for it lad. Shes an adult, you are an adult. Theres far too much preoccupation in this country with age differences. A 25 year old seeing an 18year schoolgirl is likely to be called a pedophile for christs sake.

This usually coming from redtop readers who burn down Pediatricians offices because they are dumb as ****.

Ye are both above the age of consent. Never mind the kissing, ride the hole offa her !!!!

Meh I remember getting a major slagging for being with a 34 year old when I was 24.
To this day she's still some of the best sex i've ever had... just not the best.

It's for fun, treat it as such if neither of you are looking for anything serious.
Strictly, because life is too f*cking short. :D

    VR!

    To the OP.

When I was 19 I met a guy (and i thought he was about 25), but it turned out he was 32.

Anyway I'm still with him 15 yrs later, we're very happily married with two children and he's my best friend, my lover, my confidante, so I'd say go for it.I know It largely depends on the personality of both people but... never say never.
