    hi lads

i put a car up for sale on ebay.ie, and sold it. (14K). All was good with the world, then i get a bill from ebay for $470. How does this tie in with their advertised fees for motors :confused:

    http://pages.ebay.ie/help/sell/motorfees.html

i've sent customer service a mail, still waiting on a reply...

Did you list is correctly, as a motor? Only eBay can answer your question.

Was it $470 or €470? And did you list anything else on your account besides your car?

If you care to post the item number that may clear things up. As Jor Towel suggests, if you listed your car in a non-vehicle category, you could be charged almost €300 on the final value fee alone.

You can see a breakdown of your fees if you go to your My eBay and click on Seller Account. If you have the new My eBay Beta, you have to hover over the Account tab and click on Seller Account in the menu that pops up. Your Account Status page or your most recent invoice will give you a breakdown of your fees.

the invoice lists the other smaller parts of the ad, then the last line item is as below.

Fixed final value fee of EUR 260.878013 converted to US $383.516767 at a rate of 1.47010 (as of 20-Aug-08).

I listed it in the motors section as far as i can see???

Listed in category: Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Honda

    Linkage

I solved one mystery at least...you registered before eBay.ie was launched so that explains why you're billed in USD.

Some motors categories are for parts and accessories and they're charged at the normal rate so I thought you might've accidently listed in one of those categories.

However, you definitely listed in a vehicle category and shouldn't have been charged more than €45 for your final value fee so keep persisting with the emails until you get satisfaction.

nice one, thanks for the info. First thing I sold on eBay, so I wasn't sure what the story was.
