Just a quick confirmation re penalty points that my friend said to me over the wkd.
If you missed the fixed charge notice in the post and were summonsed to court - is it an automatic 4 points or can it be reduced to 2 depending on the Judges discretion?

it depends on the offence type and it is at the judges discretion. for example if the offence was speeding the points maybe 2 points for doing 60kph in a 50 zone but if yor friend was doing 100 in a 50 it could be the 4 points. suppose it all depends on the day in court and the reason/evidence given by the defendant
