My motorola radio just arrived. With alot of talk about comms going on in game sites and around the net I thought I should point out this.

    I bought mine from

    http://stores.ebay.com/THE-HIGH-STREET-ONLINE

It cost me 135 euro delivered. And it came with an EXTRA battery.
Radio, charger, charger plugs, belt clip and two batteries. I couldnt believe seeing two batteries in fairness. I was having a look at this radio in a place in town and it was rrp at €300 and spare batteries were €80. So I got a whopper bargain.

You can contact the guy and he can do deals on 2 or more, really owrth looking into.

Ive been testing it out and its a proper radio, excellent quality and a tremendous bit of kit. However the manual does leave alot to be desired.

Does anyone know why I might be able to send voice signal, but not able to receive it. I am sending fine just not receiving. Doing this through my xtn and a lidl radio. Also I do not know how to get subchannels on the XTN (if there is any)

Also theres some commands for like iMic and mic, and i dont know what they do, the manual doesnt say.

I know a few peeps around here have them and would love some info, cheers.

And im chuffed with the purchase.

AFAIK most higher spec radios let you specify separate transmit and receive channels, so you'll need to check that they are both set to the same channel.

Also I do not know how to get subchannels on the XTN (if there is any)

I've had mine for about 8-9months and I still can't remember how to do it :P - I'm sure it's damn simple and it's probably glaringly obvious in the manual but still! :)

Hold down the PTT and the first button below it when powering up, that will let you edit the channels.

    Savage radio tho!

Got one of these myself. they are beastly to get your head around the controls but they are totally brilliant radios.

all his stock is sold out, he refreshes every week or two, or you can directly ask him for one.

Its a bargain if he does get more, and i found out how to work it and my god the sound quality is amazing.

I'm not sure on the bowmans, in my view they look a bit stupid, and i wear a helmet so would be interested to see how it works, i just think having a mic across my face would be more annoying and silly looking then a throat mic for example.

    Might look into it more.

Click the link to the http://stores.ebay.co.uk/THE-HIGH-STREET-ONLINE store. No sign that I could see of any radios.

Anybody know if Motorola talk about radio is any use?

    http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=2025

I was thinking about getting a set in 53 degrees north, a set of two for 70, but only one charger, also only 10 hours standby life and 8km range with no buildings or trees so I am skeptical t say the least.

If all else fails, go to ebay. I got a user manual sent to me electronically. It is for an XTN but it might work for you.

If anyone else is interested just PM me an email address and I will send it to you.

I just hope I saved it correctly now.:D

If its the xtnID its a bit of a pain. Display is not very clear. the number it shows is a preset, you need to hold down the PTT and button 1 below it while powering up to enter the edit menu, from their you can set channel and sub channel.

Pain in the ass, but very good radio, I have one and it have survived the wars, and bottom of rivers.

The Cavalvy Headsets are brilliant. Very comfy and you can still hear suroundings well. They fit under helmets.

I have a throatmike as well, but if you wear it for long periods (especially at a MilSim) it gets a tad uncomfy when you are sweating and the strap starts to rub your skin a bit.

I've used both Cav and throat mics and I have to say, I kind of prefer the throat mic. I splashed out and got the Iasus NT2 which is a cracking piece and very comfortable. I've seen a fair few uncomfortable ones though, you have to spend a few bob to get the comfortable ones.
The Cav I use is also great, but I find it pulls a bit on my glasses so I don't wear it so much.

    Thanks steve much obliged

EDIT: working fine now, youd think they'd give you a better manual with such a bloody complicated thing wouldnt you
