Which Treadmill?

    Hi
I am a 28 (almost 29) year old female that is very unfit. I would love to run a marathon for my 30th birthday, october 2009.
I know I need to set small goals and run a few shorter road races between now and then. Its a big challenge I'm aware but hopefully achievable.
I know that road running would be best but I find it hard to get motivated to go out in the dark and wet and to keep up any pace. I few years ago I went to the gym regularly and actually kind of enjoyed the treadmill. So I was thinking now for the winter I would buy a treadmill to get me started and to the point where I can climb a stairs without panting and then at weekends and in the spring I would start to run outdoors in proper preparation.
I don't want to spend a fortune, €1000 to €2000 approx. Have been trying to read reviews on net but they are all very mixed. It really is a mine field and its a lot of money to spend so don't want to waste it.
    Any suggestions?
Also if you think I am mad and way over ambitious let me know.
    Thank you

a good pair of runners and good stretching techniques will cost you alot less than that, just get out there on the road.
what if its wet on the day of your marathon? :D
