Currently use Canon 40D with a few mid range Canon lenses.

Used a D3 yesterday and fell in love with it. It's a big jump price wise but want opinions on whether it's worth it.

I think and have for a long time believed that the "FEEL" of Nikon bodies is superior to Canon bodies !

They were not in the lead for so many years for no reason and I now believe they are close to taking the lead yet again..

Pick-up a Canon 1D MkIII & then you'll know what a real camera feels like!
    It's awesome!

I choose Canon because of low noise at high ISO and havent seen anything to make me change my mind coming from Nikon, as soon as you move up from the consumer models to the pro bodies it really is another ball game :)

I do like the ergonomics of the Nikons ever since the F series. It may be that I have become used to them too. I have picked up various Canon cameras & have not found them to be as intuitive.

It's a really big step to change systems though. If I were to play with a high end Canon that just felt "so right" I don't know if that would be enough to change me over, as all the bits & bobs I have would not fit.

I almost did switch over to the Canon camp back in 2005 when buying my first DSLR, but that was more not wanting to deal with the Australian Nikon Agents. I solved that by getting my gear on the Grey Market.

Thimblefull thats exactly why I wouldnt switch to Nikon, such an agressive sharpening and noise reduction profile whereas on the Canon I choose how sharp it will be and how much noise reduction to put on an image. I can provide examples also from ISO 2500 from the indoor arena in Cavan Equestrian centre which is a dark and dingy place..

    Sorry but thats between a 1dsmk3 and a d3..

Corkandproud as you can see both systems has good points and only you can make the decision, one company brings out something new then the other and it will swing back and forth etc. For what its worth when I bought the 350d a few years back I actually preffered the feel of the D70.. :)

    Canon - Quality

    Nikon - Body/Build

I also would like to switch to Nikon but alas the 5D is looking nicer than the D700. For alot less. 5DmkII(or whatever) is terrible. We really need that 21 megapixels lol.

Theres no full frame fisheyes for Nikon :( Otherwise all my camera equipment would be up for sale :P

Yea I forgot you said that to me awhile back! The DX Lense isn't full frame on the D700 though the other two would be good but looking at samples the DX is much better quality!
