You going back to a 957cc then Richard? Is HOF too much to handle?

Now's not the time to mention the one-owner 1980 fiesta I made bits of in a field with me mates back in 2000? I actually remember thinking to myself- No one will ever miss this yoke, right?

The cruel thing is that it was going really strong but had been replaced by a 1993 Fiesta because of fear of the NCT. The 1993 was actually in worse condition.

I'm going to try and get one myself. My mum had a '77, it was a gorgeous canary yellow colour.

I believe its still on the roads somewhere going strong.

    lol :p

Would it not be easier pulling one in from the other side of the water? They are probably getting thin on the ground there. I knew a lot of people had them as first cars in the early 90s. Some 1979/80 models were in very good nick too.

I think the Mk1's were built better than the Mk2's, there are still a few around. They turn up and the shows during the summer.

    This year I have seen a terra cotta 1980 car, a silver late '82 and another '82. I haven't seen a Mk2 for years !

UK cars will be rotten beyound belief !

Go for a 1.3 Supersport if you can find a good one. Oct. 1980 onwards.

...........that one has an '82 Dublin reg, its the facelifted one too. They only changed the bumpers and some trim, the early ones had slimmer all metal ones which changed from chrome to matt black in early '81.

    Yes, thats her :D

The last time I seen it was at that show, previous to that it was about 20 years ago.

I remember hand painting around the filler flap with my Dad trying to get rid of the rust. And many a time push starting it. One thing I do remember clearly was how it never ever needed fuel. Strange little car ;)

One of my classmates in college had a brown Mk. I Fiesta (think it was an '83). I started college in 2003! He upgraded to an E36 after a few years though - I think his family kept the Fiesta, I'm not sure...

aah the memories!! I drove my mum's '82 Fiesta L (RZY 880) back when I learned to drive in the mid '90s. I loved that car, it had no front bumper, the front valance had been replaced and just blown over in flat black. The rest of the car was matt terracotta, the shine had gone off it over the years.
The front right chassis leg was rotten on it, under the battery :( I had swapped the interior from a Mk2 Ghia into it, I put the little rubber spoiler on the bootlid and a rev counter (!) from a higher spec model into it. The little 987cc engine went like the clappers!! I once got the speedo needle over the 80mph mark :D

I have a pic somewhere from back then of this car and two more mk1s that were on death-row waiting for the crusher at my dad's garage. It's a bit like the Italian Job for Mk1 Fiestas  If I can find it I'll scan it.

I'd love that car back again but unfortunately it was given to some younglads for banger racing around a field :(

sorry OP, no use to you in finding one, nostalgia just ran away with me :D
