I'd like to try out Clinique skincare but I have terribly sensitive skin and most creams/lotions cause problems. Do they give any samples so that I could use the product for a couple of days to see if it doesn't do me any harm? Where would be the best place to buy Clinique in Dublin?

The Clinque counter in Brown Thomas has a good reputation.

If you have sensitive skin don't let the clinque clarifying toner lotion anywhere near it.
It has been likened to paintstripper.

Yes, I wouldn't really recommend Clinque to anyone with sensitive skin. (I just don't like the skincare range at all. Too chemically or something.) Those clarifying lotions can take off false tan from hands!

Have you tried Darphin, Origins or Dermalogica?

Hi thanks! Yes I've heard about their toners and I'm not going anywhere near them  My problem is that my skin is both sensitive and oily. I need to start using some anti-ageing moisturisers but creams are usually too heavy and rich, so I'm thinking of Repairwear range which was recommended by several friends over the last couple of years, they have moisturisers in lotion form - which sounds good but I'd hate to spend money for a full size product just to find that it irritates me or I break out.

I haven't heard of these other brands, I'll look them up now!

Here's a gel lotion that may be good for your skin by Darphin -

They always have samples of their products. They are in House of Fraser. I'm not sure where else but you can order from strawberrynet.com

Clarifying lotion number 4 could actually take nail varnish off but numbers 1 and 2 are okay and they do a sensitive skin clarifying lotion toner which is very good but I wouldn't recommend it for Very sensitive skin.

I've very sensitive skin (I'm even allergic to Dermalogica and Dr. Hauschka (sp?) and the only skincare range I can be fairly sure I will not be allergic to, is Clinique.

I tend to use Clarifying lotion 1 but very very sparingly.

OP ref. the Repairwear, I use both the serum for your face and another cream (think it's an eye cream) and find them both good, any clinique counter will give you samples if you go in and ask :)

Thanks. I tried Clinique before, a couple of years ago, and it didn't cause irritation but the products were just too rich for me. Who knows what my skin likes now... I'll look into these other brands too just in case!

No 4 does NOT do this; thats a myth.

If your skin is sensitive I would recommend no 1 or the sensitive skin formulation.

The dramatically different lotion now comes in a gel if the lotion version was too rich for you.

It is a very good range for sensitive skin. You should also consider La Roche posay as a possibility also.

Clinique isn't always hectic for samples but if you are allergic to anything you can bring it back for a refund. do it straight away though!!!

Takes off fake tan on hands. I've seen it in action.

Of course it does, its practically pure alcohol; and its designed for the oilyiest of oily skin. I worked for Clinique and I never sold a bottle of it as far as I remember......Irish skin is never that oily.

It doesn't take nail varnish off tho; as it's alcohol not acetone based.
