So there's certain information which was external to their brains and then it's transmitted to their brains from whatever source, whats the means of transmittal ? how does it get in there ? is it light waves, soundwaves radio waves x-rays etc etc, whats the consensus ?

So do you know someone you think can retrieve information outside the normal means? I think the first thing to establish is whether or not this is in fact the case by eliminating the possibility that the normal means (e.g sight, sound, touch etc) are used.

I'm pretty sure it's energy, that or vibrations.

no I don't know anyone and thinks it's all bs but theres whole industries built up around these charlatans, tens of thousands of people claiming they speak to the dead and whatnot, if they have a sixth sense then what is it they are sensing, us poor five sensers can sense light sound taste smell and touch, all are information transmitted via measurable phenomena, so what are they sensing that we can't ?

If you want to get technical we have 8-9 senses: Sight, Hearing, taste, smell, touch is split into heat pressure and pain, then you have a sense of balance. There's probably one or two I'm forgetting.

As for what they claim to be sensing, it seems to vary from claimant to claimant. Though from watching some of them they seem to be playing charades with the dead.

Whatever means they use it needs a lot of improvement because they can never seem to get a straight answer, just some cryptic gibberish.

Actually there is more than 9 senses as well, there's quite a high number of senses, but a dispute over how exactly many there is? I'm not sure what the rest are, but my lecture notes have them, too lazy to dig them up :)

This question should be joined in with my Science Vs Paranormality thread in which I've dominated the point of sciences perspective. This is another question which should be added because remember, information is encoded by neural networks. I don't believe without a connection that one can somehow get a minute vibration somehow to be transmitted from a dead body which doesn't exist anymore and which has no neural networks, so to say to a randomer, that you've met someone belonging to them by absolute chance, is ridiculous.
