dealextreme are nothing but a bunch of scam artists.
Ordered three 8gb Sony pro duo cards which turned out to be fake.
Okay should have known as the prices were a bit too good.
Showed as Free 7.7GB but only able to use 3.7Gb so it looks like they are 4gb cards.
    Emailed them but no replies.
Paid by Paypal and told them of the problem, Paypal emailed them and said they would wait for 4 weeks i think it was.
Received a reply back from Paypal to say they got no reply and because I hadn't bought the goods through Ebay, that was the end of it as far as Paypal were concerned.
I though they were supposed to help people with problems like this?
Rang Credit Card Company and tried to get a refund from them and they said I had to get a letter from a Sony Shop to state it was a Fake (like a Sony shop would do that for me) before they would do anything for me.
So looks like I'm knackered.

DX aren't scam artists, but they do sell a lot of knock off stuff. Did you contact DX at all? I'm sure they would refund if you return the cards, they'll also refund the cost of the return postage, as I've had to do this before.

If you contact Sony directly (look around their website) you can send them the cards and they'll confirm they are fake. I know of others who've done this with ones bought on eBay.

I'm surprised with Paypal's response, as I know they've dealt with DX issues in the past. Though they are very hit and miss when it comes to issues like this, even with eBay, so it shouldn't really surprise me.

Sent dealextreme about 10 emails and they ignored them all.
I've no probs with a cloned card at the right price but I would have liked the
8gb cards I paid for and not 4gb
Paypal were a waste of time even though they probably do lots of payments on a daily basis with dealextreme and could have witheld payments to them but obviously me on one side and dealextreme on the other, should have known what the outcome would have been.

Don't email them, use the support site to raise a query. Unless you already have, in which case I don't think there's anything else you can do, other than contact Sony.

DealExtreme is an awesome website. Awesome indeed...as long as you bear in mind most if not all of the products are FAKE. If you can accept the ludicrously cheap prices then accept the fact that what you by might not be 100% genuine. Having said that I have had no problems with memory cards (upto 8GB) , R4 Cards and the likes, torches, taser, Oz-UK Power adapters,Fiio E5 amplifier and the list goes on...
Be realistic and you'll be fine. And yes, I've had orders delayed upto 2 weeks as out of stock but they emailed me asking did I want to wait or cancel, which they refunded pretty quick I must say too.

ive bought hundreds of things from them. the one thing i have to say is that did you really expect genuine sony 8gb sticks a the price you paid? it sounds like you were a bit naive - dx are a great company, but everyone knows most of their stuff in that line is counterfeit. and even for counterfeits they're good prices, so again, i'd be surprised you thought they were 100% genuine at those prices (which even include postage)

have personally bought a few memory sticks/cards there and all work 100% regardless of origin too.

Did you try formatting as FAT32?

Hi I have ordered a few times now with dealextreme and have not had any trouble with the stuff I got :)

I have ordered lots of items from them. They used to send out customer experience surveys and on one of them I mentioned an item I had bought didnt work. Never bothered contacting them over it as the item was only $2. But they sent me a new one after the survey. I would have no problem in buying from them again.

DX has a great feedback system, always read the feedback on an item you're thinking of buying. Avoid 'Bony' branded memory cards..

Ye, i think that's the best advice where DX is concerned: read the reviews!

For the most part i've found them to be great except for one shipment which did go missing on me. That time their support wasn't to good. Only a small order though so i let it slide.

okidoki987 can i ask you what this means

Paypal to say they got no reply and because I hadn't bought the goods through Ebay, that was the end of it as far as Paypal were concerned. mad.gif

Are you sure you're using the memory cards correctly? Standard SD cards are limited to 4GB, hence the SDHC format. Non SDHC equipment either can't work with or can't access past the 4GB boundary. I know you're using Memory Sticks but its possible a similar effect applies.

Ordered from them without issue. As has been said if you want the genuine(non-cloned) item buy elsewhere. I got a pandora battery for a psp for $6, same item was €20 on uk sites and the one from DX works just fine.

never had a problem with them before.

what's wrong with their site these days though, it's been down and can't get on. even when going on the via the links they give, when i go to put stuff in the basket the 'unavailable' part comes up and page won't open.

Their website has slowed to a crawl the last week or two due to an onslaught of Denial of Service attacks on their servers. They are working on it as fast as they can but its still a slow process on their end of things. Having said that I made an order for two items yesterday with a bit of persistance.
