    What exactly is a headshop?

Are you talking about growing illegal substances?

    Do they sell Head?

Why? They're not breaking any laws.

Although I do think that some of what they sell should be made illegal - I'd say it's only a matter of time before BZP and Salvia go the way of magic mushrooms.

no somebody will take 25 bzp pills and fall down his/her stairs and it'll make front page on the her-dald and then they'll be made illegal.

    There's Nirvana on Capel Street

There are also two in Temple Bar, I don't know the names though.

Then there's a "growing specialist" round the corner from Nirvana.

Headshops are 100% legal. They do herbal drugs. I heard there was a lot of questioning the idea of these shops. "but they could sell to kids" well if that's the case if i had 16 or 17 year old kid. I would rather them take something that will just make them feel a bit ill the day after they take it then buying it off a drug dealer and not know what's in it.

sure why would anybody here promote anything illegal anyway. no close eye needed.

head shops are for what you want them to be. if you want to grow tomoatoes in your attic, then the head shop will provide you with everything you need. likewise if you want to smoke tobacco Simultaneously with your chums, as like our many indian and pakistany nationals amongst us, they can also help out there and they can even provide you with special, legal tablets that make you feel more active and energetic, particularly whilst listening to dance music. although maybe not dj tiesto, but thats another thread.

its the misconception that these stores promote illegal activity is whats wrong with society these days. just becuase they dont have multi national status with clubcard money back offers on your 6 bottles of wine and or BOOZE OFFERS, people jump on the down with this sort of thing attitude.

you'll never find kids hanging out around head shops asking for people to go in and get them stuff. why? becasue they know people who sell illegal substances, in their area and these people dont ask for id. there only form of id is on rectangular shapes of paper usually with the numbers 5, 10 and or 20 in the corners. or 50 when all the lads chip in for a dodgy larger amount.

Thanks for all the info I went to a couple of the ones mentioned on this thread and they're pretty good.

Get with the times. They even have salvia bars these days where you can go get pissed then smoke yourself into a parallel universe with a nice big bong hit of salvia.. They advise people to sit on the couches when taking hits though because people have a tendency to fall off the bar stools when their arses melt and their spines turn into jelly.

This is the main problem with Ireland. Its run by old grannies and old men living in the stone age. Reminds me of that episode of Father Ted where theres all these old people protesting outside the porn theater with signs saying "down with that sorta thing".

Thanks. This is the best list posted so far. Do you know any up the north side? Someone was telling me there was one beside the leisure plex in Coolock but I couldn't find the place.

It called democracy. Those people are elected by the people - i.e. almost everyone over 18 years of age is entitled to vote. If they don't exercise their entitlement, they can hardly criticise those who are elected.

There's also a Nirvana on William St.

Anybody try the pre-rolled joints they sell? They're e5, are they worth it?

Passenger I wouldn't buy any of those marijuana alternative smoking mixes. You'd be better off buying some parsley or oregano and rolling up joints with it. Its the research chemicals you wanna watch out for. Not that long ago they were selling this stuff in Holland called euphoria or something but it was methalone an analogue of MDMA. I don't think its even fully regulated yet but they had to take it off the shelves because it was getting too popular and caught the polices attention.

I found Nirvana on Capal street but couldn't find that happy hippy place. Isn't Parnell Square just that park and the roads around it? Couldn't find anything in temple bar either.

Not sure but i think the one on crow st has movedto some warehouse in the burbs. Used to be the dublin headshop then irish head shops. Their website has been fancied up in the past week or so but is now minus any contact phone/fax numbers which is a pain in the butt as the contact us page is either very slow or not working properly yet.Pity because it was a boon for us poor culchies who don't have anything like it down our neck of the woods. Anyone else having problems with it?

I find something brilliant about the fact that a chemist can take an illegal drug and modify it's chemical structure slightly so that it becomes legal. Then when the law is changed to include the newly formed drug the substance can be modified again, and again and again....

But don't buy any of them from the internet. Most of them are actually illegal under our analog laws. There was a case in Ireland here a few years ago involving police, and doors being kicked in at ungodly hours in the morning. It was over the 2c-x compunds if I'm not mistaken.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 84 ✭✭BogWog

Well you can call it an analogue but when the chemist modifies it technically its a different compound. Yea I don't know how these analogue laws work but I'd imagine they'd be tricky to implement since so many legal substances share similar structure to the illegal ones.

Haha ungodly hours. They raid you at times when even gods sleeping. Some countries like South Africa I think some of these 2c-x drugs are still legal. The U.S. is the forerunner in the war on drugs and they set the example for all other countries. They have the whole 2c-x family banned and they ban alot of drugs as soon as the first underground chemist discovers it. There are some interesting compounds that haven't been banned there yet though. I don't remember the name of the one I'm thinking of but its an analogue of methacathinone I think. Theres already dickheads advertising it and selling it over the internet though so its just a matter of time.

Funny as it may sound I think that most of the lesser known research chemicals escape legislation in the US, or at least they did until some time ago when I stopped following the story. Most of the manufacturers of said chemicals were in the US and Canada.

It really is ridiculous what can be bought over the internet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 427 ✭✭sneakerfreak

also miss behavin in rathmines between tramco and dominos

its also a sex shop but they have as much as nirvana or the other stores and do smoke in pre rolled joints for a 5er with no tobacco at all in it

As soon as they get popular they get banned though. MDMA was legal at one point. You'd think that drug laws would become more liberal as society progresses but its the other way around. Even in Holland they're constantly implementing more restrictions on the drugs that are still legal there.

Its hard to believe looking back at it that shrooms were legal here all along we just didn't know about it. I wonder what would have happened in the courtroom if you were arrested with a load of shrooms. Obviously they have to check the laws concerning something they wanna charge someone for. That lad jumping out the window was just a good excuse for them to ban shrooms. If it hadn't been that excuse they woulda found another one.

Does anyone else think that these shops are getting out of hand? I'm as easy going as anyone about their existence but the language used in their window displays and advertising through people holding signs on the street is starting to look very seedy.
It will only take a couple of complaints from parents about drugs paraphenalia being openly advertised on major city centre streets and they'll be banned altogether.
If you walk from Connolly Station to Capel St-the major east-west axis in the city-you now pass 5 or 6 of these or people holding signs for them.
