Another website similar to dealextreme (cheap, free shipping etc)

There prices are good, right up there with DXs

They currently have a skin for a 4th generation Ipod nano for $0.01 + free postage!

I made a test order (a 1 to 3 Ide hard drive power cord) with them and received my order in ~ two weeks

    Here's two links:

My Affiliate link - If you sign up through this link i get some "focal points", doesn't effect you at all

No, it just looks like it.

EDIT: some opinions on Focalprice here.. and most seem to be of the opinion that most of their stuff is replicas.

    Do they only take paypal?

It all looks a bit too good to be true :)

tempted to buy an Edge card from them but not sure its worth the risk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,262 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

Well they do take paypal, and i have had 1/1 successful orders with them. SO they defo arent one of those scam websites.

As with these, dealextreme, kaidomain and the majority of ebay, alot of the stuff is probably fake.

I dont quite trust them to the level i trust dealextreme, but for now they are certainly an option if im only buying a few things

Looks to have potential .. can those who ordered report back and let the rest of us know? :)

Normally am v scared by these type of websites, but I could not resist the price of $16.90 for the R4 card including p&p. Good to read that you received you order. Hope to god it isn't too good to be true as these type of things tend to be.

Seriously good prices for Sony headphones - although I wonder are they really 'genuine'!:)

is it safe shopping on this site? is there any way they can get a hold of paypal / credit card details?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,658 ✭✭✭old boy

well apples stuff is made in china, probably in the same factory,
i use ledshoppe.com postage is free, it takes 10 days from day of order

The prices are great, and they have stuff that DX doesn't stock, but I found the descriptions completely uninformative, and in some cases, misleading.

Like for example, this is a cool product, but no mention of the Amps/Wattage

The listing says: Widely used for notebook, cell phone, razor, digital camera, digital video, TV, CD, DVD, game machine, cleaner, refrigerator, electric light, charger and various kinds of professional tools.

Still, its a great product if its able to power up my laptop. :pac:

There's a chance it wont be able to power your laptop. I got one of the same things, plugged my laptop in and it started smoking so I had to get a much bigger one that plugs in and converts it.

Have a look at the "whois" for focalprice.com it appears to be registered to an individual in ShenZhen Guangdong China complete with telephone and fax numbers if you have any issues you need to follow up on.

I'm familiar with the products from one "brand name" company that features on the site and I do know that the company sources these products from this region.

That's not to confirm that they are genuine as the company has had successes in seizing counterfeit products in China previously.

Some of the products are from the current range and some have been recently discontinued so there are lots of possible explanations.

Just a bit of feedback. I ordered the R4 card and a Nokia charger (Dealextreme were out of these) 15 days ago. Was getting a bit worried yesterday and replied to the despatch email they sent me as to where my order was. They replied within the hour but as my order was just under $20 they had no tracking number for it but assured me it had been posted. It arrived this morning and all looks in order. I got two of the original R4 cards from Dealextreme and this one is identical. I have read about copies and fake R4's going around but dont know how you tell the difference. Anyway happy with the site so far.... thanks OP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,262 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

No, I think once the order is below $20 in value they dont register it.

It does say PS/2 in the description though. It's pretty common for DX to have descriptions that don't match the pix too.

Yes but even the back of the box says suitable for both and nothing about needing an adapter.
    Whatever you say,false advertising.

I ordered some stuff of this website over 3 weeks ago and was getting worried until i got a nice letter from the revenue looking for money before the release my post.So I'd say my mail has been with customs for a while.
Just be aware that customs check this stuff too.:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

Would the 'package' have been over 1kg and or because of where it was sent from that caused them to check your particular 'package' or this type of check a random thing customs are required to do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,658 ✭✭✭old boy

check out BigPockets.co.uk epsom ink for under a quid a piece.

It wouldn't of been near 1kg in weight.
I think it was because of the hong kong sticker on it.
A few of the guys in work have also had to pay duty recently on products from other websites.

    tintar
It was a very cheap mobile phone not too much over that amount.

Doesn't really matter what you paid. I think DS put low values on all there packages, customs can just make up their own estimates of the value and charge you that. Dunno where they get the prices from but some things on DS are so cheap that €22 worth of kit could cost 5-10 times that in a shop here.

Customs here on TV last year said the rate/limit was €45 which is the rate for gifts, it is probably not worth the time & administration costs collecting on less than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 569 ✭✭✭Pauly26

If you ask for it to be marked as a gift what allowance do the customs give you? is it only 45E

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭Varkov

I need that ****ing hello kitty USB drive!!!
