Sorry if this isnt the right place to lodge this thread. I am looking for advice or information on what to expect from an upcoming NERA inspection. I'd be very grateful if you could share some of your experiences? Thanks very much

Perhaps it's not as detailed as you require but they provide a reasonable outline on their site:

    * How an inspection is undertaken.
    * Records to be made available for Inspection.

That should give you a reasonable idea what to expect.

they are mainly investigating minimum wages and workers under 18, pay and hours.

Have record of employees working hours & holidays/bank holidays with pay rates.

    They are not too harsh.

Just try to make sure you have all the records in order and available for when they call. But if there is anything missing you can just send it in afterwards. If everything is above board, you will have no problems. Also get the biccies out:D

Thanks for the help so far. A friend went to an IBEC presentation recently and it was all doom and gloom. Apparently people got up to recount their own experiences and the collective impression from their stories was that the inspectors were very high handed and arrogant , that they exceeded their authority, and that they went through everything with a fine toothcomb...... I am definitely nervous.

This is a classic sales technique.

Make the masses scared and afraid, that way when you say we can help you, they are grateful, say thank god my savior, and don't mind paying the membership fee.
