Exercise bike

Hey all - I'm trying to improve my general level of fitness and lose some weight - I'm making changes to my diet and have also started going to Curves, but I was wondering should I invest in an exercise bike? I am a bit overweight (F, 5.4, just under 13 stone), so an exercise bike would be good cardio to lose the excess fat right? And then going to Curves can work on toning up the various muscles groups?

Where are the best places to buy exercise bikes and how much could I expect to pay for it? Ideally would like one that folds up too, keep it out of the way and then take it out in front of the telly instead of crashing on the couch :)

Any advice, thoughts, would be much appreciated...

Don't do it, don't waste your money. No offence but i'd say 95% of people who buy one have great intentions but it always ends up in the the attic or cupboard taking up space. Go for a long walk instead.

Yeah that is the fear alright, my Dad bought one years ago and uses it as a clothes hanger!! But with winter setting in I just think I'd be more likely to do something if it was there staring me in the face, rather than trying to drag myself outside in the cold and rain. In fairness I live beside the sea so have a lovely walking spot there but still never manage to go for walks! Just thought I'd try to change tack with a bike...

well maybe if you really want to give it a go, don't buy one but look around on sites and pick one up for free or half nothing, websites like www.adverts.ie, www.gumtree.ie and jumbletown.ie, people are always trying to get rid of them

Oh wow that's a great idea I never even thought of that! Even if not for free I should be able to get one for cheap enough - thanks!
