I may just be putting it top of my CAO in february but i want to know

    1. What people think of it generally

    2. After 1st year, how good would your level of chosen languages be

    3. Those nearly finished in the Translation band , what do you's plan to do to become and be employed in Translation.

    4. Finally is it worth it to live on campus for this course? Two buses is not a nice prospect :(

    Thanks :)

I know it's cliche, but every situation is different, etc. It depends on what languages you're planning on taking and at what levels. Are you planning on going both intermediate or one ab initio?

I've just finished up the Translation strand, and spent the whole of fourth year being told at all careers fairs, "Oh. you do languages. Um. Anything else? Business, maybe? Marketing? ...Science?"
But the course trains you excellently for going out and being a proper translator/interpreter, so it's very easy to work as a freelance translator if you don't want a full-time job or are looking for one, or if you're lucky (I was), get one right when you leave college.

    But yeah, more information! Go!

Yeah well i plan to take German as intermediate and then i don't really mind the ab intio option because they all seem interesting.

I realise having something else with it opens more doors but translation is something that i simply want to get into and it interests me and this is the only course that i have researched that is specific to Translation.

    thanks for the reply :)
