I have got a compaq presario C700 series laptop. It was bought in Spain, I was on to compaq "technical suupport" trying to order a vista recovery disk in english and got absolutely nowhere with them. Tried asking them to sell me a recovery disk for a c700 series but they kept saying that it wouldn't work properly that the model I have was only sold in Spain. I told them that I would have no problem tracking down the vista drivers all I wanted was the vista OS in english........

Anyway does anybody have a copy I could borrow in exchange for a few beer vouchers?

    Thanks

Tech support are correct. They can't supply an english version of the recovery disc containing Vista because the licence with the laptop is tied to the Spanish version.

Buy yourself an english OEM copy of Vista and install that.

Got sorted, activated, sp1, updates, drivers etc, no problems.

The tech support's argument wasn't regarding the licence, they were saying that the components / laptop was specifically for the spanish market and if I tried to install an english OS it wouldn't work  That only spanish os and drivers would work properly!! I "discussed" this with them for about 10 minutes and the bull they were coming out was hilarious, kept saying they would have to talk to a supervisor. Any way laptop is running as well as vista can be expected to run, installed "english" drivers from the HP / compaq web site and strangely enough the spanish laptop understands them:D
