Looking for one of these right now as my flexibility seems to have dipped, can only get right leg to 90 deg and left to 80 deg in a supine flexibility test, would like to increase it and will look around on the web when i have time, but suggestions here would be welcome as always.

    Thanks :)

Stiff Leg Deads may help a bit.

Warm up your leg muscles first - VIP! Then lie on your back. Raise one leg vertically as far as you can. Drape a towel over your foot and pull it towards you. Do this four times holding for 30 secs each time

This should give you a good progressive stretch, without importantly compromising your lower back.

Grab a heavy weight n lower it to your toes...

I get on a hyperextension machines, and stretch down until I can feel the stretch on my hands. Sometimes I grab the machine base and pull myself further down.

Also grab an elastic band, put it round the ball of your foot, lie on your back and raise your let straight in the air. Pull the elastic towards you. Switch feet.

Thanks for the suggestions guys/girls, no gym membership so the towel method may have to do for now. I've heard that tight hamstrings could be a positive for when i'm sprinting though, any truth to this you think? i'm gonna ask on the athletics board also for a broader view on it.

Al_Fernz if i could do splits i would gladly haha, i'm not that good though :(

A tight hamstring usually means that you have some type of muscular imbalance. This will increase the chances of injury.

On the side splits you don't have to go down all the way. Just enough to feel a good stretch.
