I use it for WMP as well. It's great, but I haven't been checking it much recently. I'll look up FireFM later!

Been using it since it was called Audioscrobbler, in may 2005. Since, then I have listened to a total of 45,257 songs, and counting.
It's great for finding out new artists to listen to. I'm also quite a nerd for charts and statistics, so it satisfies my need for that too.

Dowloaded it a couple of days ago, just typed in 'Outkast' and on came Roses. Not exactly one of thier best tracks, but rather clever nonetheless.

Yeah, on it since about May or June and have something like 12,000 songs clocked up...obviously I'm a bit iPod obsessive...:D

It's great sometimes, discovered bands like MGMT before they got big by listening to indie tagged radio.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out now with iTunes new Genius feature!

They played a free gig in Cork a few months back, gutted I missed them. The full band too.

The non-subscribers were able to use the site before but didn't have access to certain things if I remember correctly. I tried using it lately but it kept directing me to the sign up page.

You get a free trial anyway Spiritoftheseventies, so you might as well give it a try. I'd sign up myself but I'd only use it the very odd time as I'm a cd player person myself.

yes have signed up but not sure about the radio bit. Every time i click on a band i get another song from another band. Sounds very random.

It's still the same when you sign up, I think. It's like a radio station really and plays similar artists to the radio station/artist you selected. I don't think you can opt to plays tracks exclusively from one artist alone. Copyrights and all that stuff. You don't get to choose the playlist.

You can download the plugin thing and then when you're playing music from your computer it's listed on your last.fm page. It'll then give you recommendations based on your playlist.

Can someone explain Lastfm to me?

Like, can you get a particular song that you type in or does it give you similar songs or what?

Could never get my head around it, even though I've tried it. Years ago mind.

You type in your favourite bands re REM radio. Then its gets as near a match in terms of bands that sound alike. Wouldnt be mad on it so far.

Last.fm isn't great for listening to tunes TBH but for comparing tastes, letting you know when gigs are coming up and suggesting bands it's the best.

If anyone here is on it give us an aul add

You'll be glad to hear they're playing the Crane Lane on the 29th of April!

Last FM is great. If you're ever going on holidays, change your location and get gig recommendations. <3

there's a thread in the gen music forum where people ask for invites, pro your best bet. Also you can't you register your interst on the spotify site and get one, or has this been removed?

Last time i checked spotify wasn't available in Ireland?

I somehow managed to get around that , they cut me off :(.

However if i could get back onto it, I would be forever grateful so please dont hesitate to send me an invite:D.

I do love last.fm though, I was subscribed to it, and I miss it, it was great to listen to bands similiar to your music tastes that you might not know. Or listen to bands you do know, for next to nothing, and make playlists, for next to nothing.

I had the usual 1 months subscription (3euro a month) that lasted 3 months:rolleyes:. Guess they forgot to turn my radio off :D.

I'd recommend joining LastFm if you've 3 quid to spare to get the full use of the radio, you like discovering new bands, and you dont own a huge music collection.
