Hi,

I'm due to start Journalism in DCU this month and I'm just wondering does anyone know how many hours a week is the course or is there ever a day off during the week?

think we might get fri off,20 hours per week supposedly,plenty of free time to relax aka drink:D

I heard it can be between 12-15 hours per week but not sure..

but i would take the timetables printed on the website as a very basic template because they are known to not be finalized until week two or three of the academic year..

Yeah they do I just pulled up semester 2 there. Assuming tutorials don't interfere I should be off on Monday's in semester 2. And the friday in semester 1 with everyone else! are you starting too?

Nope, has friends in 1st year of the course last year.

You cant afford to ignore tutorials, so you have mondays by the sound of it

Yeah me too! Even a few changes wouldn't be too drastic! Loving the late mornings of Semester 1! What module did you pick when you registered?

Our timetable is savage,weve so much free time and one of our first classes is introduction to politics ha cant wait lecturer is Eoghan O'Malley aka a member of the family that partly formed the PDS ha sorry im just such a politics nerd.

Yeah me too! Trying to read the info on the other two made me extremely confused so I went with the one I understood and thought I'd get most use out of! haha! Looks like we may get Monday Semester 2 off then!

Also know of another girl doing it called megan i think, that was from the freshers bebo group....

Hmmm I propose that we set off on an internet-wide search to find our missing class members! lol!

All you newbie journos should get involved with the DCU newspaper!
Its called The College View, and is independently run by students.

You'll be hearing more from us in the first couple of weeks hopefully..

Spread the word....

p.s. your timetable could change over the next week, so just keep checkin it. from what i remember the work and hours in 1st and 2nd semester was pretty similar, but 2nd semester was more interesting..
