    Hi

I have the original Xbox 360 (No HDMI) and a new Bravia 32v4500

To complete my collection I want to buy the Sony DAV-DZ260 http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/1176290/art/sony/dav-dz260-home-cinema-sys.html

I'm wondering could anybody tell me if I can connect my Xbox to this system.

I know very little about the whole surround sound systems but I just want to know if it will go through it.

    Cheers

Yeah you can, change your xbox to digital out and then connect it to the Sony amp with an optical cable. Then switch the amp to TV, ignore what it says in the manual re choosing audio. Then you get nice 5.1 digital. I have the same set up and it works fine for me.

Sorry to piggyback on this thread but i'm in the same position as the op.I want to connect my 360 and ps3 to the same sony ahome cinema system(which i hope to purchase in a few weeks).I'll be using optical in for both consoles and i'm wondering if all optical cables are the same?? Will a cheap one like this be ok or would i be better off buying a more expensive one.I know that cheap hdmi cables do the same job as dear ones because its a digital signal but is the case any different with optical cables??

    Thanks for the help:)

The sony system in question has the following that will work:
2 analogue audio inputs, 1 optical audio input

    You can use either.

With regard to the optical cable for the xbox. I recently purchased an expensive optical cable and it wouldnt stay connected to the xbox optical socket. The plug on the optical lead seems to be too "chunky" for want of a better word.
