Resolving domain names really slow

Got an issue with an XP SP2 machine.

Resolving domain names is very slow, takes about 10 seconds. Definitely an issue with the computer and not the network. If I ping a hostname it takes about 10 seconds before anything happens (slow resolving), if I ping the IP it starts instantly.

This is having a more than noticable affect on the connection.

Just did a Spybot/Hijackthis sweep and removed a few things, toolbars etc, and removed all threatening start-up processes.

Also repaired TCP/IP stack all to no avail. Installing SP3 now in the hope it will have a magic fix.

you seem to have ipv6 settings, shouldn't really need ipv6

i'd try disableing it... if you go to the properties of your network connection, can you uncheck it (internet protocol ipv6)
