right, so it was cargiant for me and i chose this car

    http://www.cargiant.ie/Honda/Accord/details-397261-Honda-Accord.asp

with the exchange done and vrt paid it was costing about E14,000 give or take!!

    then i saw this

    http://www.cbg.ie/Car_Detail.aspx?ID=2311431

If both cars are of similar condition, spec and price then you'd save money on the trip across the Irish Sea and have the bonus of some sort of warranty here.

SR seems to be sport spec(adds 16" alloys, fog lights, cruise control among others) so the irish car seems to be the better deal.

Never going to be worth it at that price of car.
Look at an 08 accord 2.2 diesel for about 13k sterling and you will find thousands to be saved. Best saving of all cars ive looked at

    +1 Checkout motorpoint.co.uk

I just bought a Focus 2.0TDCI Titanium, for the same money I could have bought the Accord, it was not the car for me but would be for many. Huge amount of car for the money. €22K all in for a 2008 Accord...

Make sure it wasn`t already brought in from UK...cartell will check it`s history both Irish and UK if it was.

There's that and there's the current situation we're in here. Approach the Irish dealer, show him the calculation of the landed costs and tell him you'll go and import it unless he'll sell you the Irish car for 10% less. Cash, no part exchange. Take it or leave it. He'll take it.

Jason, you'd have to take the Irish one alright, and do exactly what unkel said. From looking at buying from the UK myself, it seems you really need to be buying something £12k+ to start making decent savings.

Unkel, with that in mind, I'll take your 735 for the same price as this one (plus the vrt & flight/boat expense) (linky) minus 10% ;P

    Touché :)

But we're not comparing like with like to be honest. My cats have been replaced by the previous owner and my suspension has had a complete overhaul less than 2k miles ago. If those jobs haven't been done on the car in the ad you linked to, the new owner is in for a bit of a shock :D

My car has had fully stamped BMW main dealer SH until I bought it and since then it has had full service history from my trusted BMW independent specialist

Sorry for going off topic here :)

Isn't that the one someone already went to look at and found a couple of thousand € in the armrest? He walked away in the end as the whole thing just didn't quite add up.

With the new Accord just around the corner, and the price the trade are buying Accords at the moment, I'd be looking at paying €12,500 for that one before your trade in.

In Ireland, SE was the base spec so try looking for a Sport Model. Over the SE the Sport gives you half "Leather" seats (still not sure if real leather or pleather") and cruise control.
