Just a quick question, if the laptop I have has a memory limit of 2gb imposed by the manufacturer is it hardware based or they just say it?

Laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11s, Crucial says it can only take 2gb but thought somebody might have have same options..

    Thanks

It would normally be hardware based. Your mobo wouldn't be able to run more than 2gigs

Yep it's generally a hardware based limitation.

If you're running a 32 bit operating system it will only recognise 3gb ram(i think)
Is it running xp or vista
