Hey all, (i did a quick search on this and didnt see a similar thread)

Im thinking of joining a gym, namely (image fitness) in swords.

I was just wondering whats involved in an assessment, and does

image fitness provide such a service?

Im sick at the moment so this is the easiest way to find out. :o

    Cheers.

They usually ask a few medical questions - are you suffering from high/low blood pressure, athsma etc, check your weight and measure you height. I've seen them do blood pressure tests a few times too.

General assessments can involve: medical questions, asking about your goals, measuring your body fat with calipers or scales, checking your flexibility and checking your general level of fitness - running on a treadmill or cycling an exercise bike or doing step ups for 3 minutes followed by ab crunches or push ups for a minute. And taking your heart rate before and after.

Beware of them taking your blood pressure - the instruments gyms use is usually pretty poor. The best solution is go to your GP and get him/her to check you out. Then when you're told that your blood pressure is too low/high and they won't recommend you doing weights or certain things you can clarify and tell them you've already got it checked. More expensive but far safer and more reliable.
