Did a quick check, you could look here and it might be of help: http://www.onlyfreewares.com/Audio-Video/Video-Converters/Free-FLV-to-AVI-Converter.php
There are a number of free converters out there. Start at www.download.com if you have no luck with the above.

P.S. If you install the "K-lite" codec pack (free on the net in loads of places), Classic media player within that will be able to play your flv videos no problem as well.

    guys

the software seems to be working ok, but I am having problems getting the videos to be compatible with my Creative Zen portable mp3/video player....

can anyone shed any light on this or suggest an appropriate file format?

    cheers

Whats the total range of formats that the player will take?
What format is giving you problems?
Have you tried both mentioned tools?

Your player should play MP4 files, avi files and maybe mpeg files to name a few off the top of my head.

I think its actually a problem with the files I am trying to upload - some wmv files work and some don't so I think the source is the problem and not the conversion software....

Sounds like the quality of the files from your source is poor. The best you can do in that case is try converting them to another format that your player will play and see if they will work in a secondary format.
