Anyone know what it means? It's one red light in what would be the 4 player part of the ring. Read that it may be the AV lead, or something worse. Anyone ever had this? What do I need to do? I've had it about 2 years.

AV lead is all 4 segments flashing at the same time.

Segment 4 on its own usually means hardware failure.

If nothing is on screen, you can figure out exactly whats wrong by using a guide on the link above.

New cable didn't work. Has anyone any experience sending their Xbox back for repair?

I haven't but E74 means you have to send it back unless your handy with a soldering iron.

They charge you for it aswell im pretty sure and its not under the extended warranty like the 3 red rings.

Not sure what just happened but now it's showing 3 rings!!! Took out the cables etc and the HD, put them back and turned it on and now there's 3........

Does it take long to get fixed and returned?

    Yes. 4 times.
You call them up, and provided its in warranty, they e-mail you the UPS number/label which you print out and put on the box (not the original box as they tend to disappear from the vans), and its back in ~2 weeks.

Think it migt be the transformer, can't remember exactly but I think I had the same problem early on when I got the 360 a few years ago.Got a new one sent out from MS and think it sorted every thing out.

Rang them there and they're gonna do the whole courier thing for free. Decent enough but I'm still without my Xbox for 2 to 3 weeks.

In other news, brand new Xbox 360 HD AV cable for sale! Unused!:p
