I'm looking for a purple/grape lipstick to wear with this dress. Went into town yesterday and came home with what I thought was a good one but not really right when beside the dress. Or maybe I could get a darkish purple lipgloss to go over the lipstick I have. Any ideas or suggestions?Dress.JPG

I wouldn't wear purple lippy with that tbh

I think a 'smokey eyes' look with clear lip gloss goes better with purple. And definitely don't go with the whole purple shoes, handbag, shoes, lipstick, eyeshadow ensemble. I've seen people do this, overloading on the one colour and it's not a mistake you want to make! Maybe even a sheer gloss with a hint of lilac or something along those lines?

boots natrels stuff (sp?) do a nice one called black cherry, I have it, and find it good, you can wear it drak or just as a shader so to speak, if you get a good heavy lip balm, like Burt's Beeswax Balm put it on a few mins before you put on your main lippie, then start the lippie on the bottom lip, smoothing lips together to blend onto top lip, that way you can put more on gradually until you get the desired colour and I find the balm underneath stops, staining and makes the colour stay on longer

I agree with the smokey eyes, and I'd do it with a nude lip. Maybe something like the final result here?

Don't wear purple lipstick with this dress unless you're going for a Goth look. Smoky eyes with a hint of purple, and a neutral lipgloss would be really nice.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes I think smokey eye look would be good. I've pewter bag and shoes and that would tie in nicely. My own lips are reddish and wanted to tone them down a bit. Will defo have a look at that Black Cherry - just want a hint of colour.
