Not sure if this should go here or in retro.

Just after watching the Last Star Fighter. Its probably 20 odd years since I've seen it and I still enjoyed it tonight.

Got it on HDDVD and I have to say I'm impressed. It actually looked good from a film that was made in 1984.

Ripped of some many films. Star Wars and Back to the future (even though back to the future came out a year later!) to name but a few!

Who knew that Mags was about 25 (I thought she was playing a teen). I would then and would now.

Any one from the 80's should re-watch this!

Cool, I didn't know they'd released a HD version of it. It's a class movie.

It's a good laugh alright. I think the main alien charater, the good guy pilot that flys the starfighter was an Irishman!

Is that the one about a kid who is told because he is the best on earth at playing some video game, he is to be taken off by some alien civilization to be an ace star pilot??

Cuz if it is, I haven't seen that movie in about 12 years, but I loved it!

In relation to the aforementioned Battle Beyond the Stars, all the effects were reused in a film a few years later called Space Raiders!

I haven't seen that film in at least a decade. I loved it though. It'll be interesting to see how well its held up.

I didn't think that Battle Beyond the Stars was great. Afaik it was based on Seven Samurai/The magnificient seven.

the last star fighter is class.

you couldnt get it here on DVD for years (if at all :) ) so if its on HD fair play.

its incredible how much fun it is and though the effects have dated big time (i actually think it was the first film to use CGI to any large extent) its script keeps it flying along.

I haven't seen this movie since way back when it first came out.
And even though I can't seem to remember it all too well,
I do remember enjoying it very much.

I used to love "The Last Starfighter", used to have a satellite channel called Premier back in the mid 80s and they had this on regularly, excellent, loved that car!
The humour was good too, the android replacement back on earth and the crack about the kids stash of Playboy, excellent!
