The folks on the GAA board have one of these on the go and some of the pics they have come up with are great. Here are some of my favourite rugby ones

Two from a match between Old Belvo Ladies and St. Mary's back in January/February I think, nearly every game in the country was called off due to the weather, but we had to play this game up in Navan. Fifteen minutes in it was difficult to tell what team was what, but it's one we won't forget soon.

The Paul O'Connell one I think everyone has seen before.

Amazingly I can't find the first one that springs to mind and probably the most iconic photo of Irish rugby in recent years which is a distant photo of O'Connell towering in the lineout and taking the ball mid air against England in Croke park with the massive crowd and score board in the background. If someone else can find it and post it please.

I was told that that image was the most purchased photo of all time from the Irish Times (Who I think owned the image).

I'm surprised - would have thought that horgans long arm in that game would've been up there.

This was my attempt at catching Mr O'Connell performing in the line out... I was not prepared for the height he got!! This was his first match back after injury for Munster A v Ulster A in Cooke last year.

This one was very memorable, along with a picture of Ellis Park prior to kick off - every image I come across is ruined by copyright stamps etc.

Most of them yes, I somehow look like I didn't play (as you can only see my head) even though I was on for the 80. My head was relatively muck free, but I'm still finding muck on the most of the gear I wore even though it's been washed repeatedly.

There is an image in my head of a photo seen a long time ago.

1977 Lions in NZ, no hot water after game so players return to hotel, in playing gear, to get a shower.

Willie Duggan, mud plastered all over, blanket wrapped around him, fag in mouth - old school !

i remember when i was small watching the what happened next bit on a question of sport.
a few players (new zealand) i think were attacking down one touchline when a streaker ran on the pitch.
what happened next was the streaker tackled one of the players.

Has anyone else ever seen this clip. it was from the 80's i think, in a stadium that looked pretty full.
Ive asked my friends but none of them have ever seen it!

No, but maybe this will cheer you up. Probably one of the best goals you'll ever see.

It was a Currie Cup game in South Africa. Might have been early 90s, even before Apartheid was abolished.

I know this is pretty grewsome but it seperates the money grabbing soccer players that have turned me off soccer for life and rugby players that will do anything for their country and i have to say i really miss Denis :( The way he outran Dr Phil in the RWC game and we still don't have any body that could go as fast as him:(

I agree, I remember Hickey made a great tackle in that match while he was covered in blood, similar to D'Arcy hanging onto the Italian and bringing him to ground when he broke his arm. Legends!

    ???????
You might have noticed that Fitzgerald and Earls are very nippy players. Tommy Bowe is a very elusive winger also. He's not the fastest but boy, can he finish a move or cut through a line.

Sure, Denis had a great career for his province and for Ireland but the players coming through the ranks also possess the capability to forge legendary careers.

the younger ones are coming up alright but Hickies sheer speed as i stated in that post he out ran conters from starting a metre behind him to stop what should have been a try :)

He wasn't even the fastest on the team back when he was playing, but his jinking in broken play was something else to watch.

Image reminds me of Ireland playing its best rugby under Eddie O'Sullivan. I honestly think we were the best team in the world in that 3 week period.

P.S Amz that first photo you posted is top notch ! .

Does any1 have the picture from that game where it looks like one of the Leinster players is hiding behind one of the goal posts, with the caption "Is Paul O'Connell out there?"

Sorry dont want to stir up any Munster Vs Leinster picture arguments in the Forum. (I just want to stir up a few Munster Vs Leinster picture arguments in the office)

You really don't get the feeling or emotion in this photo but was great seeing it. Basically for anyone who doesn't remember the whoe Irish team walked up to the faces of the All Blacks while they were performing the Haka (since then teams aren't allowed advance past the half way line while the Haka is performed)
