Yet another membership question! An uncle on mine, who now has alzheimers and wont be playing anymore, is still a member of a golf club. Can I take over his membership? Do i lease it? Do I have to apply to the club?
    Any info appreciated

    Many Thanks
    Pat

It will depend hugely on the club. Contact the club secretary involved.

I did, and she just laughed at the question!! She did however say she would ask the general manager. So basically its down to what is is the club constitution/rules. I didnt know if there was any hard or fast rules. I asked a friend who leases a membership for Powercourt and he said he(the lessee) deals directly with the club and the lessor( who has never swung a club!!)has no contact with them.

Leasing is a pretty new practice in golf. It just exists where there's share-holders as opposed to members, I'm pretty sure.

So if it's an old-school club it's unlikely to have such a provision.

I knew it was too good to be true. Its an old club. Ah well I might as well just wait till they get back to me.
