Blueface caller cant hear ringing tone

Hi, I recently setup a blueface connection and am using a Cisco 7960 handset connected directly to my home router. After much toying around with the phone I have managed to finally get it dialing out and receive calls. Just when I thought all was well I noticed that when I call the blueface phone from either a mobile or normal landline phone I cannot hear the phone ringing from the mobile or landline. The blueface phone does ring, alerting me to pick up. But if someone outside my house were to call me, they would dial my blueface assigned landline number and just hear silence, while on the other end my blueface (Cisco 7960) phone would indeed be ringing. I have answered the phone twice today and people have gotten a surprise down the other end because they thought nothing was happening.

And ideas what could be wrong here?

The problem still persists, but I have ruled out Blueface as being the problem. I installed a softphone on my PC and rang it using my blueface assigned landline number and it rang, along with me being able to hear the ringing tone on the calling phone.

Then when I called my Cisco 7960 phone, it rang, but I could not hear the ringing tone from the calling phone. I spoke with tech support at blueface and they told me that it was my handset that was not generating the rining tone for the other phone to hear.

Has anyone any experience with this sort of problem, or indeed the Cisco 7960G VOIP phone.

any help appreciated, as I have already gone to considerable expense to get the phones and now I fear that they may not be working properly.

    hi

Which firmware are you running with your phone ?

I've seen a conversation on blueface forum recently about someone having issues with a cisco :

They say that a firmware is better than others ... that could be worth trying

    I believe I'm running SIP 8.03

Also just to clarify as I look at the link you posted and my problem seems different to theirs. At the moment I can ring out from the phone and I can receive calls on the phone, and when it use it works perfectly I can hear the phone ringing, I can hear people talking, they can hear me, etc. The problem is exclusively with callers at the other end. When they ring the phone, and before I pick up, they cannot hear a ringing tone on their end.

When I say "ringing tone" I am not reffering to a ring tone or the sound the phone makes to alert the recipient to the call. I am reffering to the tone the caller hears to let them know my phone is ringing.

    Any ideas?
