I think it was focused on the center bottle set to a slow-ish shutter 1/20 and zoomed in quickly,or else foused on the center bottle and keep them right in the center and move to the left or right

moving the zoom ring on a low-ish exposure? (on a tripod)

    workaccount.
At a guess , the focal lenght was changed during exposure ie by rotating the zoom ring manually during the shot.

    I thought that,
But a tripod in a shop...don't think you'd be allowed

There is a Filter you put on the front of the lens. It gives you that effect.

A mate has one .... sort of a novelty item really.

you could do it handheld if you went with a quickish shutterspeed and a fast zoomin.

    Here's a similar one I did before...

(was on a tripod though... cause it was dark!)

Could have been done after with any image editing program.

Select the area around the focused bottles with a large feather setting.
Now invert the selection and use a motion blur on the rest.
Would give you a similar effect

I'd say it was in a moving trolley as well:)

    Most likely.

'Focal zoom' in www.picnik.com can give you a simular effect.

    Smaller scale...(excuse the pun)

I was aware alright that you do the effect on a computer but it's not the same really for some reason.

At the moment it would put me off a photo if I knew it had been altered majorly on a computer. Computers would be ok to fix small problems but not to make a picture taken with a camera into something completely different.

The main reason for this might be that anybody can make a picture into something much better/cooler with photoshop and the like by randomly messing with filters but it's not natural - therefore invalid to me.

EDIT: There are some exceptions actually where major digital enhancement can be ok.

    l agree.

l think these sites are great for effects that can be used for projects, posters and the kids have great fun with them.

For serious photography you might never use them and rely on skill or luck....:)

    Question to all boardies;

Do you edit any of your photos for better effect? Yes or No

That's how I do it. Same effect:

EDIT - "Do you edit any of your photos for better effect? Yes or No"
Yes ofcourse but usually not past what the photo should look like..

    I agree with that.

I think it's nearly impossible to PP a rubbish picture into something good, and in fact it's a good bit easier to ruin a decent picture by playing about with it too much.

I cannot see the photo at work as it's blocked.

I think that one of these may have been used.
