Go along and have a good look at it. They'll show you round, maybe let you have a free go if you ask.

I've been there on a trial, and wasn't too impressed. They have a lot of machines, and some light free weights, but no squat rack or bars for deadlifting. When I asked about this, I was told squats and dead were dangerous.

They have a pool and lots of cardio machines, don't remember a boxing bag. They are pretty girly, so probably not.

Why not try Pinnacle? Sounds like it would suit you much better.

    Hi Darren
If you are looking for something around the city, try the Iveagh Club in Christchurch - they a seperate free weights room, with 2 Smith Presses, DB, BB, benches etc. And another floor of machine weights / free weights / cable machine. They have a free standing Punch bag, Ive the bigger lads train on it, so it can take a bit of whacking. The other thing is they have no annual contracts, or charges if you cancel. I found that with Jackie Skelly before. Lastly, Iveagh is not an overly busy gym, I used to find JS tight for space.

I'm a member and it depends what you're looking for. It does have two smith machines but no punch bag. Mondays and Tuesdays are crazy busy. If you're interested in cardio classes Skellys is good for that. I also go to the Skelly's in Ballsbridge. There's a lot more space than on Claredon street. The instructors are more approachable (in my opinion) and the spinning studio and weights area there is far better. However same problems on Mondays + Tuesdays - very crowded. I suspect the most gyms are packed these days and its not just Jackie's?

If you're looking for little to no cardio equipment but serious weights Pinnacle off Harcourt street would be the one. Was a member of Iveagh a few years back and I thoought that was pretty good. Definately worth checking out.
