My mates steering wheel on his '03 traffic has become loose, anybody know how to remove the horn and air bag to get access to the nut to tighten it?

it's unlikely enough that the boss nut just came loose on its own.

The airbag unit is usually removed by unscrewing 2 or 3 bolts at the back of the wheel (probably Torx heads)

Don't remove the airbag unless the battery has been disconnected. don't reattach the airbag unless the battery is disconnected.

Read up on safe handling of airbags before you start the job.

Theres no screws or bolts on the back of the wheel, there is one small hole which looks like it may have a release mechanism behind it but it aint doing anything,

ah well, of to Renault with him....

is there any clip-off panel at the back of the wheel?

not sure about the back but there is a small rubber panel at the front that looked like it can be removed but we didn't want to use too much force just in case......

Have had to do this to a Vivaro (same van) a while back (suprisingly with the same loose steering problem) but cant remember exactly, you definitely have to work through the hole with a small screwdriver to release, dont pull the airbag towards you while you're trying, its either push the horn on or pull towards 12 or 6 oc, there is a spring clip to catch inside the hole
    Ahh forget it see this
