Hey there, My problem is that I cannot connect my ps3 to the net .
Im in Cork and am using ucc's inernet. To use this connection you have to register your laptop and i'm not to sure they'd be excited if I asked them to register my ps3.
Im trying to get my ps3 to conect to the net through my registered laptop.
Is this possible and how would I do it?

    THANK YOU

if you are connecting to the network with wifi you can plug the network cable you get with the ps3 in the laptop and bridge the connection. the laptop must be on and connected and also any login stuff must be done

this will connect it but you may not be able to use the ps3 as some ports on there side will be closed

tell them you have yellow dog linux installed on your ps3, and your using it as your laptop !!

Ok, Its a wireless connecton and I have already hooked them up using the ethernet cable and have bridged a connection between the laptop and the ps3 but after it obtains an IP address it immediately fails for some reason.

And if I do actually install linux could I easily remove it and return to the oiginal os without losing any saved data?

Most of the colleges have proxies setup so they can keep an eye on what you are doing. You will need the proxy settings and password probably if this is the case. If not then the yellow dog linux option is a good route.

the 2 OS run side by side, i have it up and runmg on my ps3, the ps3 was designed to run a third party os

Hmm its not looking too good at the moment is it?........
It seems like my only option at this point is to hope I can find a guy at the college tech dept who is cool and just ask him straight up if he could connect my ps3.

Thanks for the link about yellow dog linux by the way, either way im still thinking of installing it now.

    No online gaming for me.........:(
