    Hi Guys
I had great success in selling my Schmidt and Bender scope last week on this site. So i am putting up for sale the other part of the package, my Steyr SSG04 IN .308 calibre. I will post a link to Steyr so you can see for yourself the pictures and details.
    http://www.steyrarms.com/index.php?id=5
All the info is on this site, and saves me re-typeing it. It comes with all the bits, case, paperwork, muzzle brake etc. It is only a year old and was bought in east coast dog and gun. It also comes with a ase Utra Au jet-z suppressor. As with all steyr rifles it comes factory treaded so no need for concern here.
There has been no more that a 100 rounds fired through it, its like new. I bought it with the intention of doing a lot of stalking but it never came about much last year, and having another centerfire, it dosent make sence to have both.
The total cost of the kit was €2850. I have to be realastic about what i want to get back for it and i think at €1700 euro for the lot is a excellent deal. The gun will also be for sale in East Coast for a little more, to cover his cost. Also i have included in this 100 rounds of Hornady 150grain btsp. They Retail at €42 per box. If you know of anyboy in the market for a .308 or if you are interested, please drop me a reply.
    Many thanks

Ohhhhh you fecker that is tempting

My brother recently bought an older ssg in .243 and man that's a nice rifle.

If this was in 12 months time I would probably make an offer but I have a meeting friday with the bank for a mortgage so I am strapped. :(

    Good luck with the sale

Vegeta, good luck with the mortgage.
berettadt10, lovely looking gun and at the moment I am considering the CZ kevlar stocked varmint in .308 but it'll be a little while before funds are ready, so I am sure it'll be gone fairly soon at that price.

Cheers Vegata, its a serious bit of kit, it is with out doubt them most accurate rifle i ever fired. Probably mad getting rid of it, but still in two minds, unless i got the 1700 i would keep it.
Fish slapped keep saving, cheers for replies lads.
    Talk soon

I surprised nobody has picked up that Steyr yet. My husband and I shoot one and there every bit as accurate as our Remington custom. I have read somewher else that the stocks are poor quality and if you put on a bipod you cannot keep POI. We dont have a bipod on ours and it is very accurate. Do you have a bipod and if so does it affects your POI ?.

Nice rifle, but I wounder how difficult it will be to obtain a licence for it. As some superintendants don't like issuing licences for rifles above .3 calibre, or have things changed since?

berettadt10, please correct me if I am wrong but the problem with the stock was with the pro hunter a few years ago and has since been fixed, and a .308 is about as difficult to licence as any other center fire rifle. If the super is decent he's decent.

    Hi Hillwaker
I have a bipod on it, and it has never effected any POI. I am a big Steyr fan, but honestly it is the most accurate piece of kit i have ever used and the beauty is no changes are needed from the box. The last rifle i had was a Sako 75 hunter, what a pile of crap. I bought it new, and it was never right.
I know there are Sako fans out there, maybe i was just unlucky, but one bitten twice shy.
    Cheers

    Hi Iamxavier,
There are two cases for getting a .308. The first is if you can obtain a hunting licence, from the Dept of Environment, and the second if you are a member of a rifle/ pistol club. The only club i know for long distance is The midlands rifle club, which is also Garda approved. The super, has to have a serious reason not to grant a licence, and where i live the super is very strict on firearms. Having said that i had no issues getting it. .308 is the biggest legal calibre allowed as far as i am aware. So if you have any firearm at present, and you hold one of the above, there is no reason why you wont get a cert. Hope this helps

    Hi Beretta DT 10,
Thats great to hear I will put one on our steyr. I would love to have a shoot out of your gun, i can imagine how accurate it is. Best of luck with your sale. My other half would love to buy it only getting the license is just too much hassle. Its probably alot less hassle to go to dublin and buy a handgun of a drug dealer.

    Hi Fishslapped
You are bang on with the stock, it the pro hunter, not the SSG.
Any centre fire you can have the same issue, but as i said they have to have one seroius reason not to allow you a cert. Also if you are not happy with a super's decision you can appeal it. I heard one story a while ago, a guy got refused a .270. He applied for a .308 and was granted the licence. How he got it in the end was he brought the two shell caseing into the local sergent or super, not to sure on that, but when the seen the size of the .270 case they granted the .308 purely of its size. Stupid i know, but this actually happened. At the end of the day i dont think all the local sergents and super's have a clue on calibres and ballistics.
