I always wanted one of these, But I always liked the Mk3 best.
Then I saw this and fell in love. Any experts know what it is though?

Dont like it, too much fiberglass. I'd rather an unmolested one.

Looks like a European Touring Car RS2600 Capri Replica. The works cars had fat arches like that.

If it is a genuine RS2600 Capri, they were only available in LHD (except for two build for UK motorsport management), and were the first Ford in production in Europe to have fuel injection, I think......

as the text on the website says:
    Original Capri RS

    3.0l Motor mit 130PS

    Kotflügelverbreiterungen

    BBS E30 Rennsportfelgen

    Zusatzfernscheinwerfer

Capri RS, 3 liter engine, wide arches, BBS racing rims, spotlamps

The unmodified version would have loooked like this:
    RS2600Car1970.jpg

Sorry for being particular, but no Capri RS came with a 3.0litre engine. They were either 2.6 Cologne (2.3 Cologne stroked to 2.6) or 3.1 Essex (3.0 Essex bored to 3.1)

The non RS Capri came with a 3.0 Essex.

The RS2600 Capri was sold in Germany, France, Italy (I think), while the RS3100 Capri was generally sold in the UK.

Ya, I know. Far too much info!

...yes but people seem to forget.........when they were current, they were not left 'unmolested'....the only place they were 'unmolested' was in the Ford catalogue. So a (tastefully) modified one is entirely keeping with it's actual period use, imho..........how do you think Ripspeed came to be, anyhoo, or Kamei etc, for that matter.......??

It is a pain at junctions... you are halfways across the road before you can see what is coming!

I see where Galwaytt is coming from re the mods. Thankfully I am too young to remember when the capri was the spiritual predecessor of the 3dr Civic! :D

    Its gorgeous !

I was just reading about them in Classic Cars this month, aparantly the 2600 engine was injected, but only the race engine and it wasn't a production unit. Also they say that apparantly some of the 3.1 engines "went missing" and found their way into production 3.0 Capris, so there could be some out there with the bigger motor !

The 3.0 engine was enlarged to 3098cc to allow it into the next class and race versions were taken out to 3.5 litres, to compete with the 3.0CSL's

Richie heeley in Malahide had a dark blue Mk2 Zakspeed RS3100 with those wide arches, right hand drive, superb looking car !

It looked something like this but.........nicer. This is an "X" pack

+1 Pity people feel they need to do this to the car, "bastardizing" comes to mind, simplicity is beautiful imho

sorry i know this is an old thread but i just thought id let you know that this is a mk1 capri with cologne arches. you said you prefer this to the mk3, i completely agree. this is prob my favourite car. these bodykits are still being made but i dont think they have the brake cooling vents that this one has (theyre just for show on standard mk1s). So you can buy a run of the mill mk1 1600 and turn it into this! If you have the money for a cologne arched mk1 definately go for it
