To be honest I'd say you're better posting on one of the finance forums.

Any (decent) broker should be able to sort you out, they don't get paid unless they get you signed you so it's in their interest.

    Hey,

I got mine with the Complimentary therapist Association in the UK, very well known, was €180, for both insurance and membership http://www.complementary.assoc.org.uk/

There's also Brian Mullins insurance in Sligo aswell, they have a deal with the IBPA http://www.bmib.ie/

I feel odd talking about this in fitness...no idea where it should go though!

Anyway, I finished my holistics course in 2007. I started setting up on my own properly in May this year, it's been quite slow but I gather that alot of people don't want massages during the summer.

On my website and on my flyers, I have that I treat men and women but oddly I have had more calls from men. I feel a bit uncomfortable about them now because I got an odd call which upset me so now I am very wary of men calling. If I do have male clients, I do ask that they come to my house for the first treatment and as we build our relationship as such, I will then progress to treating them in their own home.

How do you mean asking in local hoels? Asking what?

Yeah unfortunately word of mouth just doesn't seem to be happening for me, it's pretty disheartening. I kinda thought originally "oh yeah this is gonna pick up really fast, the phone constantly ringing" but it didn't so then I accepted that but 4 months on, as I said I'm feeling pretty disheartened, I don't know what else I can do to market myself.

I have a website, business cards, a big sticker on my car, cards in the local chemist, flyers around the place (which keep getting taken down so I keep having to replace them)..what more can i do!!

How do the men react when you say women only? Do you just do Body massage or what therapies do you do?

I mean having a word with a manager about advertising in the hotel.U know when guests come for holidays.
I have heard some are doing that.
Dont know if insurance will cover u there or they will have to.

Dont worry we were told not to expect in first few months loads of calls.it will take a little time,
What about dropping ur cards aswell in business centres?

They look quite funny lol but i dont mind as i am single so i dont want guys in my house if i do accept a client at home which i prefer not to.And dont feel confortable going to theirs either.

Where did you do your course and what therapies do you do?

Yeah unfortunately my local hotel has a spa, so that ideas out the window!

I am kinda considering just saying women for the time being. I'm guessing that the kids are back at school now and it's coming into the winter so people will be more into looking after themselves and (as terrible as it sound) getting injured more because of the weather etc!

How many clients would you see in a week?

I am only doing full body.
I did it with NCEF and Itec
who did u do yours with and what therapies are u doing?

Well the business centres cards on counter always good idea or office buildings;)

yeah i would if i was going out alone or bringing them to mine. Its different when ur working in areas with public near by.
Haha its ok ur not wishing it on them :D

I have only started again i have six so far but they are friends of my mom and her friends so thats how i am getting clients right now.I am think of renting a room in local sports centre its small so they dont have gym and stuff like that so no spa.Watch out for one of them they are always good and cheap. The room i would be renting is twenty euro for a hour.

Oh right, i see, and are you looking into doing any other therapies?

I have diplomas in Swedish Body massage, aromatherapy, stress management, indian head massage, sports massage ..hoping to do reflexology or hot stone massage sometime soon!

yeah 2 new sports centres are opening near me but unfortunately they don't have treatment rooms, that was my original plan. I can rent out a room in a holistic centre nearby but i need to have a steady client base to be coming through the door to pay for the room!

Just wondering what type of massage bed you have, i'm looking for an easily portable one.

How much do you charge for a full body massage?
