    Hi guys,

Have a 2/3 year old HP 5750 desktop PC. It has been wiped clean and needs a complete reinstall.

It has the XP sticker with licence etc. attached. And we have plenty of XP OS disks.

But the 'restore cd' and all the other disks the pc came with have been lost.

Have tried using other HP restore cds we have but none work.

Any advice on how to get this thing back up and running?

    Thanks for all advice guys.

    Cheers,
    Quad

I'd have thought another HP OEM CD would work okay .... is the CD for the correct version of XP - home or pro ?

HP OS cd's only work in conjunction with the 'restore' cd. ie. You run the restore disc and then it asks you to put in the OS disc.

I've tried a few different restore cds we have and they all fail after a few minutes, saying 'the version of the Restore Plus! CD does not support the system on which it is running. The Restore Process must be restarted'.

Just get your hands on a retail XP disc and then ring M$ to get activated using the COA on the HP box
