hi all, i'm new to the med forum.
i'm due to start healthcare course (access to nursing) next week.
does anyone know what the salary of a nurse, carer is these days for say in their first year? i heard it was in the 28,000 mark for a nurse's assistant!
    thanks.

depends if it's public or private I guess. and also if it's agency or not.

hey! if you go to the ino website (www.ino.ie) you can check out salaries for all nursing grades, including students. though you will only get paid when you are rostered. health care attendents get paid around student nurses salaries l think. g'luck!

Carer's wages...agency work is around €15 an hour basic. Private around €12 (though I think less, around €8, if you don't have much experience). Publics around €16, again might be a bit less with less experience.

I'm guessing it might be become banded soon in the publics as they're sending all the HCA's on fetac courses.

Good luck with the course :)

Took a bit of searching to get the wage table on the INO site so I'll post the link up: http://www.ino.ie/DesktopModules/Articles/ArticlesView.aspx?TabID=35&ItemID=3625&mid=6977
