3 week gap between marathons - is it enough?

Planning on a marathon on 9th of November. Thing is a friend of mine is trying to get me to do one on the 30th, a gap of just three weeks. Do you reckon three weeks is enough of a gap to recover between two marathons?

Regarding my own level of fitness, the Connemara one this April was my first full one, I did it in 4hrs14. I've been using the Hal Higdon Intermediate programme for the 9th of November marathon. Should I go for it, maybe aim for a good time in the first one then just pace myself in the second?

No one can say for sure as everyone is different. 2 years ago I ran in Connemara 3.40ish and 2 weeks later I ran 3.30 in Paris (and ran without any problems).

    Honestly? No..
If you have a good few marathons under your belt I'd say maybe but not after 1 unless you're not bothered about time in your 2nd marathon.

I've only done the one, but it was three weeks ago yesterday. Yesterday, I did a 22 mile run and could easily have kept on going for the last 4 miles. Wouldn't have even been close on the pace to the original run, but could have got through it. Did the extra 4 miles on the football pitch this evening (I love my Garmin!).

Higdon's recovery program helped a lot for the first two weeks. Would have been easy to sit back and do nothing without it.
