Only a few songs into this but its sounds absolutely brilliant. Seriously good. Catchier and probably more radio friendly than Cookie Mountain but just as funky and original.

I have their last two albums (both of which I bought on the strength of the superb singles) and I have to say I find them quite heavy-going. I'd still like to check out this new album though. The fact they've come up with gems like Wolf Like Me and Staring At The Sun is good enough for me...

Yeah, they can be a little heavy going. Maybe not one for a sunny day. Still, excellent band. Must pick this one up.

I agree. As much as I loved the first two albums they were difficult listening at times. Dear Science is much easier on the ears. Id go so far as to say its their best album yet. Lots of potential singles on it.

Got 5 stars in Q so I meant to check this out but it wasn't available last week. What kind of music is it exactly?

Very eclectic - lots of genres in there. Swampy bluesy influenced stuff, funk, indie rock, electronica. And they're on 4AD which already makes them great :)

Very difficult to put a genre on them really. Wiki describes them as A New York City indie rock band whose music spans genres as diverse as free jazz, a cappella/doo-wop, soul, shoegaze and electro.

    Heres a taste :

Such a fantastic song, but to be fair, not representative of the album off which it's taken (Return to Cookie Mountain).

Here's their other masterpiece of a single: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uo2WLQ2LVA

I've been brutally forced to listen to 'em by a friend for a couple of years now and love 'em. But yeah, not easy to listen to.

At first I was a bit disappointed 'cause I was expecting it to sound way different but it is defo a grower. They've totally went wild on this one. Dancing Choose is the only track I'm having difficulty getting my head around... experimentation is all well and good but they don't suit that vocal style at all. Stork and Owl, on the other hand, has easily become one of my fave TV on the Radio songs.

ordered it the other week, so can't wait to get it. I like thr 2 songs on their website so far. hopefully they'll pencil in an Irish date...

    Two threads merged.

If you're starting a thread on a current album, have a look in case there's one already.

    Thanks.

I'd just say, stoner-tastic. Could their eyelids be any droopier?

But seriously, very talented group and actually quite 'nice' lads when I met them once. haven't heard this album fully yet, but from the tasters so far, it sounds great.

Its ok. The vocals are rather mediocre, they don't take anything away but more to the point, add little. A few tracks that I'll come back to listen to - Stork & Owl, Love Dog and ELZ, but the rest are rather forgettable.

I know nothing about them. Haven't listened to any songs off the album or have any idea what type of music are but they've got some brilliant reviews on metacritic. I'm off in the car now to listen to it so I'll be back with a review shortly!

I've listened to the first half and its brilliant.

    Get this album folks!

Really liking the new Tv on the Radio album, favs so far are Halfway Home, Stork & Owl, Golden Age and DLZ.

Got Tickets today to see them in Glasgow next month, sweet.

Must say I loved the album too! I've only listened to Wolf Like me and hours before, but I may invest and buy their other albums!

Ive been litening to this all week and it really is an amazingly good album. Definite late contender for album of the year. Love Dog is the best new song ive heard in ages.

Halfway Home, Family Tree and Golden Age are all brilliant. Not sure I'd give it 5 stars like Q did, but then again they did name Coldplay the best in the world last week:D.

Nothing as good as Wolf like Me on it, albeit the whole album is more accessible than RTCM.
