has anyone experience of the recruitment day? I heard they take it so serously and you have to improvise and stuff...true?

Wouldn't say that... You go into a waiting room (where there's usually a movie on) after getting a number, then you get called and go into another room where there are several interviews taking place. You have a little chat with the person about the usual stuff... they pretty much just go through your CV (BTW have your CV and references with you). If they don't want you, then you go home then; but if they do want you then you're given a sheet of paper with some basic points about an electronic device (eg. tv, mp3 player, phone), and you go wait in another area to study it. Once there's 4 or 5 of you, ye go to a room (or behind a partition in my case!) and do a role-play thing.

The role-play is fairly relaxed so don't fret it really... I was sh*tting myself though :p There's a district manager sitting there seeing how you're doing, whilst another guy is playing the role of the customer. Basically you just act out a conversation that you (are supposed to) do in the store if someone's buying something!

    eg.

cust: "Hi, I'm interested in buying a new TV, could you recommend any?"
you: "ahh well we've got this here Samsung X30459304653640536, it's the latest model from them. It's a 42in LCD screen, and it's HD ready."
cust: "oh really? I was hoping to hook up a surround sound to it"
you: "it actually comes with a surround sound thing! it's dolby dooby sound too, so it's pretty good. It's actually part of a sale now, so the set is only €10... what a bargain!"

    etc.

The actual specs of the device aren't that important, so don't worry about that. We were told to just make it up if we forgot.

Then you're asked your preferred stores, and you go on the waiting list.... I was waiting 3-4 months before I got a call from the c*nts  But it depends really, it's just a matter of what stores need staff and when.

how many days are you required to work in xtra vision?

ehh..... I'm doing 2-3 shifts a week now that I'm back in college (tomorrow :(). Doubt they'd keep someone who only wants 1 shift a week...

Cheers Dave. Sounds like an ordeal. Probably will end up going, but I've got the charisma and personality of a rotting block of cheese so I doubt I'd get it

It's not too formal, but don't be toooooooo casual! I couldn't believe what some people had on, I wore a shirt and black jeans.
I mean, your expected to wear black trousers if you work there, so why show up to an interview in trackie bottoms and a football jersey?

It sounds like Xtravision has changed a LOT since I worked there (and its only been six months)! Mostly a great place to work though, I actually miss working there a lot.
