Just bought my first pair of hair straighteners and would love to be able to use them to curl my hair as well as straighten. My hair is naturally straight but for going out I'd like to curl it sometimes but I don't know where to start doing it right, or what products to buy etc! Anybody got the knack of doing it the right way? thanks :)

    Hey!

Well firstly make sure you get some heat protection spray to protect your hair!
I youtube'd 'curling hair with a flat iron' and all these videos came up so maybe watch a few of them they should help you loads as you can physically see how to do it rather then just reading it! Also use some hairspray to hold your curls in place! Hope this helped :D

Take a section of hair and bring the straightener down as you would if you were straightening your hair, but twist as you bring it down along. How long is your hair? Mine is around 3 inches below my shoulder and I twist the straightener 360 to get loose curls. If your hair is longer or you want tighter curls it's a bit trickier doing it yourself as you have to turn the straightener a couple of times, but it just takes a bit of practice. I use GHD heat protection spray (1 spray per section), it protects my hair and the curls stay in place without having to use hairspray.

Thanks for those replies, I looked up YouTube and found some good demo videos. My hair is about an inch and a half below my shoulders and I thought is it too short to curl or that it'd look ridiculous! Gonna look at some heat protection stuff tomorrow before I do anything tho
