We had a great seminar with John yesterday and I just thought I'd come on here and say a big thank you. I got lots of texts yesterday evening thanking me for bringing him down. I twinged my fvcking back rolling at the start so I couldn't do anything for the whole time except a few techniques and take photos! But even by standing watching I learned a whole lot of new stuff and was reminded of stuff I'd forgotten!

John started us out with some rolling rounds and went with anyone who wanted. We then moved on to some gi related triangle and omoplata set ups, followed by some hip movement drills for guard work. The bulk of the seminar involved set-ups and finishes for the omoplata including some really cool finishes and sweeps from the omoplata position. John even took time to show some of us his Smorgasboard finish! (one for the record books maybe!)

We finished up with some Q&A where John answered some technical questions and gave his opinion on Gi versus NoGi training, which really rang true with me as I've been saying to the guys who train with me for ages that I only really began to get grappling once I began to wear the gi regularly.

I've been to a lot of "big name" seminars but I always come away from John's sessions with more stuff I can use. I'd highly recommend him way before I'd recommend some the the international superstar types that come over. jkseminar.jpg
