A friend had some photos taken by a photgrapher recently. They had some printed out and he put the rest on a DVD as .vob file. We now to print some of the photos (as well as use them as backgrounds, etc.) from the DVD but unfortunately I can't extract the individual photos from the disc.

I've tried using DVD decrypter but the file has no chapters.

Does anyone know how I may do it?

If you download VLC media player you can open the .vob file in it.

Then, once you get to the desired area you click Video and then snapshot.

It will aslo tell you where the file is stored so finding it isn't that difficult.

Hmmmm...a little more cumbersome than I was hoping for but I think you might be on to something.

I tried your VLC suggestion and it doesn't seem to work. The snapshots come out with white speckles all over them.:(

Media Player Classic also has a snapshot feature, a decent little player aswell :). Btw I think these photo 2 dvd programs make a movie out of the images, so the only way of extracting the image would be use a method like this...

Poweredvd also has an excellent grab feature if you pause the video while playing - the downside is that you have to pay (in theory) for Powerdvd. :(
