MPEG4 STBs

I have a UK TV that worked fine until the signal was changed to MPEG4. I cannot get terrestial TV as I am in an apartment block with no aerial and a booster aerial will not work.

I need to get a signal so that I can use my DVD to record my coronation street :-)

Can anyone advise me on where I can get an STB that will deal with the MPEG4 signal? I have looked on the web and can find something called a ctech 5000 - but cannot find where to buy one

    Any help very much appreciated!

There is no official service of DTT till next year. The DTT *IS* Terrestrial, so I don't know why you don't get Analogue.

Read the other threads. Various working (for now) solutions are mentioned, but it's generally premature to buy something that will cost 1/2 as much next June that what you might buy today for an intermittant engineering test and that might be obsolete when the Public service starts.

I'm in the same boat as lindap999. My analog reception is dreadful. I'm looking for a cheap (say €50 or so) STB or CAM that'll tide me over until the official service starts!

Is such a thing available from France or other countries that use the MPEG-4 system?

Cheapest STB from France about €130.

Np4 Viaccess CAMS are about €60 if you have a compatiable idtv.

If your Analogue reception is very bad digital may not work or give a lot of artifacts. Get a better aerial
